Align Pivot to Direction (vector) allows you to align the X, Y or Z axis of the local pivot of each of the selected objects to the direction (vector), defined by two picked in the scene points.
SNAP will be turned ON automatically.
If the Shift key is down when the axis is chosen the pivot will be moved to the first picked point.

I can run it but it doesn't do anything
It works. It aligns the local pivot of the object. Sometimes the pivot of the objects is not updated correctly so after the script is used and if the local pivot is not changed go to Hierachy tab and, press the Affect Pivot Only button, click in the active viewport and turn Off the Affect Pivot Only button again.
