nTop for Autodesk® Fusion®
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
The nTop for Fusion App enables Fusion users to insert volumetric models created using nTop into their Fusion Designs.
You can create a nTop model and save it as a .implicit file. Using Fusion, you can access the “Import nTop model” command, located in the INSERT panel of the SOLID tab within the DESIGN workspace. You can navigate to the folder where you saved your .implicit file and open it. This action will create a new component within your active Fusion design. This component will include a body representing the bounding box of the implicit model designed in nTop. This body will have a Volumetric Lattice designation which will represent the implicit model created with nTop.
In Fusion’s DESIGN workspace, you can interact with volumetric model as well as the bounding box of the inserted component. For example, you can add a hole to the bounding box, and use the Combine feature to cut or intersect it with other solid bodies. You can move the component or create assemblies containing it. You can also add a section analysis to create a section view based on the volumetric model.
If you switch to the MANUFACTURE workspace, you can create an additive setup with an FFF, SLA/DLP, or an MPBF machine and prepare (orient/position/support/slice) your model for 3D printing and create the machine-specific file format.
You can learn about the supported machine file formats here: https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/blog/additive-manufacturing-file-export-types-autodesk-fusion/
Implicit models inserted using this add-in are persistent. This means Fusion designs with implicit data can be saved, reopened and shared without loss of such volumetric data. Persistence requires the computer to have nTop and this Add-in installed and running.
This addin relies on nTop Core, which is a developer library that enables the creation of applications that can interact with implicit models natively, without losing geometric precision or design intent.
