The application is designed to give you the possibility to use frequently used folders like it should be used. Fully accessible list that updates immediately, shown in file dialogs.

General Usage Instructions

After installation and loading to the Inventor UI, the settings button will appear in QAT between the open and save buttons in the left top corner of the Autodesk® Inventor® main window.

Button usage displays user settings to this app and users can set up:

1.     Record events, folders will be added to the MRU list when a chosen event occurs:

  • on file open,
  • on file save,
  • and on file insert.

2.     Library folder – when chosen, the application will record library subfolders.

3.     Workgroup folders – when chosen, the application will record workgroup subfolders.

4.     Pin if starts/ends with – when chosen it will pin all frequently used folders with folder names closed with <> brackets to the list.

5.     Folder name structure - it can be chosen from the list – the name of the folder (except pinned folders which will stay with the given name) will be given according to path and chosen type.

6.     Maximum folder count stored in list 5-25.

The button is also an indicator if the project file is locked, if it is, then an update of the list will be done after Inventor gets the rights to save the project file back.

For example, if you use two instances of Inventor then just close the second one, and it will occur.

After set up, all applications will work in the background and will update frequently used folders when one of the setup events occurs.

Installation/Uninstallation

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plugin from the Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plugin. Or, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plugin. To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. Or, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 10/11) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.
