SiteSense/Navisworks Sync can be used against any NWD model which represents a SiteSense project. To check whether a particular part of a Navisworks model will be correctly updated from SiteSense data, open the Selection Tree on the Navisworks model and select your desired part. If the part has a type of "Block" under its properties, it will be updated based on SiteSense data. Other part types (e.g. "Insert") will not be updated from SiteSense data.

The update criterion for a part is that there is a resource with an identical name in the selected SiteSense project. For instance, to update a Navisworks part with the name of "WALL_259," a resource would need to be created in SiteSense called "WALL_259." The part names must match exactly.

SiteSense/Navisworks Sync can be run through the Navisworks GUI (Graphical User Interface) through the SiteSense ribbon which is added as part of this app. When running the app through the Navisworks GUI, the user must first provide the following 3 parameters:

1. SiteSense Stage (UAT / PROD)
2. SiteSense Project ID
3. SiteSense API Key   

Please contact inquiries@intelliwavetechnologies.com to acquire login credentials for the SiteSense platform, including a SiteSense API key. You can expect an initial response within 1 business day. When using the app through the Navisworks User Interface, there is also an option to perform a "Trial Sync" which does not require any parameters. This Trial Sync will fill the currently-loaded Navisworks model based on test SiteSense data. The Trial Sync should never be used in a production environment.

Running the app through the Navisworks GUI is suitable for first-time users. However, for experienced users and for automation, we recommend running the SiteSense / Navisworks Sync app through the Navisworks CLI (Command-Line Interface), which is much faster. The user must provide the same 3 parameters listed above. Here is a sample command that invokes the SiteSense / Navisworks Sync app:

• Roamer.exe -NoGui -OpenFile "C:\path\to\model\before.nwd" -ExecuteAddinPlugin "SiteSenseProgressPlugin.ProgressPlugin.com.intelliwavetechnologies" all -SaveFile "C:\path\to\model\after.nwd" -Exit  

Replace the model paths and arguments in the command above to suit your own requirements.

The parameters of the syncing are currently fixed to the following settings:

• Black - Part does not appear in SiteSense or is not on any Purchase Order in SiteSense
• White - Part appears on at least one Purchase Order in SiteSense
• Blue - Part appears on at least one locked Receipt in SiteSense
• Green - Part appears on at least one locked Issue Ticket in SiteSense  

We hope to provide additional coloring parameters in future releases.

SiteSense/Navisworks Sync is compatible with the following Navisworks products:

• Navisworks Manage / Simulate 2019
• Navisworks Manage / Simulate 2020
• Navisworks Manage / Simulate 2021
• Navisworks Manage / Simulate 2022
• Navisworks Manage / Simulate 2023

The installer that ran when you downloaded this app/plug-in from Autodesk App Store will start installing the app/plug-in. OR, simply double-click the downloaded installer to install the app/plugin. You may need to restart the Autodesk product to activate the app/plug-in. To uninstall this plug-in, exit the Autodesk product if you are currently running it, simply rerun the installer, and select the "Uninstall" button. OR, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (Windows 7/8.1/10) and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.

SiteSense/Navisworks Sync is distributed as a set of 2 plugins:

1. SiteSenseProgressPlugin  - required for providing sync functionality between SiteSense and Navisworks
2. SiteSenseRibbonPlugin - required for providing a GUI frontend for Navisworks users  

These plugins are installed in the following folder by default: %Programdata%/Autodesk/ApplicationPlugins

The plugins can be easily uninstalled by running the uninstaller that is installed with the application.
