Spools To Search Sets
Description
Search sets can provide useful tools to help the personnel in the field locate a piece of fabrication in the model. In order for this workflow to be used, the spool names must be located on a property that is exposed in Autodesk® Navisworks®. An example of this would be on Fabrication CADmep+ parts. The actual "Spool Name" data is not exposed in Navisworks as a property, but the "Notes" data is. The same workflow can be used for Revit Elements or any other part that has the spool name on a property exposed in Navisworks. For more on how to make this process work for you, and for a tool to automatically put the data in the "Spool Name" field into the "Notes" field for Fabrication MEP, see the post "Creating Navis Spool Search Sets". The "Spool To Search Set" tool will go through the model and find the unique property values on different parts in the model. This can be done either through a selection, or on the entire model.
As George has stated, we use this a lot and are about to upgrade to 2025 version applications. any news on a 2025 version update?

Plugin was woking well but now its continually crashing.

If you would like to email me at sdaniels@vdctoolbox.com, perhaps we can work together to find out what is different from when it was working until now and hopefully find a solution. One thing to try would be making sure all Data tools are turned off. This is noted as a known issue within the help documentation. Thank you

Spools is a very handy tool to create search sets and indispensable in our coordination process. Hopefully it will be updated to 2024 soon.

It's very good app when creating search set by using property, and easy to use it. If possible, please update it for navisworks 2023.

Great product, just like everything else you have available!
Downloaded to make up search sets to match the contractors isos. The Engineer can open the NWD find the ISO they are reviewing and compare with the cooridinated Navis model.
Helps streamline the ISO review process and keeps the engineers off of the VDC backs.
This is the fastest way to create search sets I have found. Plus, you know that you are creating search sets for all of your elements when you are creating them based on parameters!
This can be the best add on for Navisworks ever created. With endless possibilties. This add on created a new workflow for our organization that has been a huge success.
Fantastic tool. Makes it possible to share spools sets with others who need to view spools in a model quickly. You build them. They click them. They see them. That simple.
This is the best damn programming I have ever seen. Fist bump to the guy that wrote this program, I use it all the time. This guy deserves a nobel prize. And he has a sweet moustache!
Being able to pin-point a spool within a giant model, regardless of what program it was made with has sped up workflow exponentially.
Finally!, A tool that lets you build sets quickly.The grouping/indexing feature is super handy. Having a second Category/Property (Source file) to group/index on would be a nice addition for future development. Good work!
