Auto-Dimension MEP

Win64, English

MLabs
The app helps insert and merge dimensions automatically to pipe/duct/cable trays/conduits in your project

General Usage Instructions

1. Launch the Plugin:

  • Open your Autodesk® Revit® project and navigate to the MLABS tab in the ribbon to access the plugin's features.

2. Select MEP Elements:

  • Choose the MEP elements you want to dimension, such as pipes, ducts, cable trays, or conduits. Ensure the elements are visible in the current view.

3. Automatically Retrieve Dimensions:

  • The plugin will automatically gather data such as pipe diameters and lengths. This information is used to create accurate dimensions.

4. Insert dimensions by objects:

  • For all elements in the current view: Click on the Filter MEP button to add dimensions to the elements in the current view.
  • For Selected Elements: Click the By Selection button to add dimensions to the selected elements in the current view.
  • Between Connectors: Use the Add Dimension Between Connectors feature to dimension the space between connected elements, which is useful for detailed MEP layouts.

5. Add Dimensions to 3D Views:

  • Open a 3D view of your project.
  • Use the Filter MEP feature to add dimensions directly in 3D, enhancing spatial understanding of your MEP setup.

6. Adding Tags:

  • When adding tags, the app automatically locks the current view.
  • A new view will be created for tagging to prevent alterations to the original view, ensuring a clean and controlled tagging process.

7. MEP Fabrication Specifics:

  • For MEP Fabrication users, only the Add Dimension Between Connectors feature is available. Use this to accurately place dimensions between fabrication connectors.

8. Finalize and Review:

  • Review the inserted dimensions and tags to ensure accuracy.
  • Make any necessary adjustments directly in Revit for a polished final result.
