Engipedia Topo Shaper
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
When you run the Engipedia Topo Shaper tool, the following steps will take place:
-
Select Topography Instance:
If multiple topography objects are present, the tool will automatically select the first one. You can change the selection by either using a dropdown menu or picking a different instance directly from the model. -
Select Model Lines:
You will need to select one or more model lines from the model to modify the topography. Ensure that the selected lines are open loops, not closed ones like circles or ellipses. If no lines or open loops are selected, the "Run" button will remain disabled. Closed loops, such as circles or ellipses, must be split into two or more elements using the Revit Split Element tool before they can be used. -
Choose Division Method:
Once model lines are selected, you can define how to divide them—either by specifying the number of points or by setting the distances between points. The number of divisions must be between 2 and 1,000; otherwise, the tool will automatically adjust to an appropriate value. The distance between points must be greater than 0 and less than the length of the shortest line, which the tool will suggest. The units for distance will match the model's unit settings. -
Save Topography State:
You can save the current state of the topography for future use. The tool will generate a timestamped CSV file, stored in the same directory as the model. All coordinates will be saved in meters. -
Shape Topography:
After clicking the "Run" button, additional topo points will be added along the selected model lines, modifying the topography as defined.
Additional options and features:
- You can choose to delete existing topography points within the area enclosed by the selected lines (polygon).
- Additional points can be created where model lines intersect with topography boundaries, if applicable.
- The tool can also delete existing topography points along the selected lines. If this option is enabled, the tool will operate in delete mode and will not add new points.

- Export Requirement: Before exporting topography points to a CSV file, make sure the Revit model is saved.
- Demo Mode: If the user does not have a license, a limited version of the tool will start in demo mode.
Known Issues
- SLOW Deletion of Points in Toposolid: Deleting points in Toposolid can be SLOW due to limitations in the Revit API, not the tool itself.
- Complex Polygons: Polygons with intricate shapes, nested polygons, or complex intersections between line polygons and topography boundaries may produce unexpected results.
- Unclosed Polygon Deletions: Deleting points in unclosed polygons works but may sometimes yield unpredictable outcomes.
- Toposolid with Inner Islands (Openings): The tool does not support Toposolid elements that contain inner islands / openings.
- Curved Boundaries: The tool does not support adding intersection points when the Toposolid element has curved boundaries.
- Exporting CSV Points: Exported CSV points may not recreate the exact topography element if the original topography has concave or complex shapes, including inner islands.
