Launching the Add-In:

• Open Revit and navigate to the project and view where you want to generate 3D tags and spatial volumes.
• Click the add-in button to start the tool.

Selecting Spatial Elements:

• The add-in retrieves spatial information (Rooms and Spaces) from the current model and linked models, organized by phase.
• First, specify whether you want to create 3D tags, 3D spatial volumes, or both.
• Select the specific Rooms and Spaces to be processed based on your choice.

Tag and Volume Generation:

• Choose the workset and phase where the 3D tags and spatial volumes will be created.
• If the required 3D tag family isn’t available, the add-in will load it automatically.
• The tool also creates view filters for spatial volumes based on room names, enhancing data organization and visibility.

Managing Tags and Volumes:

• Customize the generated 3D tag family as needed (ensure custom families include "Name" and "Number" text parameters).
• You can create variations of tags and volumes using different families.
• Shared parameters are added to the Generic Model category, allowing room data to be listed directly in the model.

Deleting Tags, Volumes, and Filters:

• Remove existing 3D tags, spatial volumes, and associated view filters by selecting the relevant family or type, or delete them all at once.
• Additionally, you can clear the model of filters and shared parameters for a streamlined view.
• In case of errors, such as when some room geometries cannot be created, check the error log for details.

Pro Tip:

• While Revit’s API doesn’t support automatic manipulation of Design Options, you can manually place 3D tags and volumes into non-primary Design Options for enhanced visibility control.
• The default family includes a subcategory that can be toggled off if needed.
• Each 3D tag/volume family instance has relevant Room/Space ID shown in shared parameter for quick Room by Id selection.

Installation:

The installer will automatically launch when you download the app/plug-in from the Autodesk App Store. Alternatively, you can manually install it by double-clicking the downloaded installer file.

Since the app/plug-in is not digitally signed, you may encounter a security warning. In this case, click "More info" and then select "Run anyway" to proceed with the installation.

After installation, you may need to restart your Autodesk product for the app/plug-in to activate.

Uninstallation:

To uninstall the plug-in:

• Close the Autodesk product if it is currently running.
• Either rerun the installer and select the "Uninstall" option or:
• Navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features (for Windows 10/11) and uninstall the app as you would any other program.

DEMO Limitations:

• Only the first 10 rooms or spaces from a single phase are generated.
• Rooms and spaces from linked files are not displayed and are excluded from the table.
• Dropdown menus and other UI features are disabled in demo mode.

Slow Filter Refresh in Large Models: When links are visible in the 3D view of large models, creating filters may significantly slow down the refresh time for each filter. To improve performance, it's recommended to hide links while creating 3D spatial volumes and filters.

Room Geometry Generation Edge Cases: In certain cases, room geometry may not generate correctly, or a mesh object might be created instead. These instances are logged in the error log file. To address these issues, review any problematic room shapes and check area and volume calculations in the Revit model and linked files, particularly if spatial volume objects are based on links.
