Drag Drop Interface 2022
Win64, EnglishGeneral Usage Instructions
Left mouse click-select any item in either family or family type list and drag it into the model drawing area. Once you release the mouse button the normal (API version) insert command engages. You will be able to spacebar-adjust rotation and move the loaded symbol to its desired location before placing it.
Moving the mouse pointer back into the list area will release the previously selected symbol from the crosshair, quickly giving you access to the next click, drag & drop operation.
HINT: Selecting items in the Family Type list (upper) is the faster method. Use the Family list (lower) when the family needs updating or is not yet loaded into the model.
HINT: If you like to load, but not immediately insert a family object, you could double-click the item in the family list. Loaded families are indicated by a slightly darker background colour.
For convenience, the symbol lists could be filtered by category and by column content. Column filters are interacting. Normal column ascending or descending sorting applies. NOTE: Be observant on filters if the lists are not showing expected content.
The Family Type List filters could be stored using the Filter buttons. Up to 10 different settings could be stored. The filters are stored in memory. Re-clicking the filter button will clear the filter boxes. Clicking the filter button “X” symbol will clear the filter setting from memory.
Use the set path button to select a new content path. If right clicked the path label will open a new Windows Explorer showing the current folder content. NOTE: the tool will show content in subfolders.
The Family List content path could be stored using the Path buttons. Up to 10 different settings could be stored. The path settings are stored in memory.
List views will update when changing model. This is triggered when moving mouse pointer into list view area. Use the Refresh List button to update all list views, if needed.
API External Event:
This software is utilizing the Revit API “External Event”. Clicking the list view item will set all input data for the External Event. Drag and drop will raise the event. Revit processes external events only when no other commands or edit modes are currently active in Revit. Normally this is instant once you release the mouse button. If you experience delays, there are probably other processes going on in the Revit background.
