DQ Projects
DIMOD is a plugin for Autodesk® Revit® that sizes each power electrical circuit according to the IEC standards and draws the single-line diagram of each electrical panel.

General Usage Instructions

Steps:

  1. Open an electrical Revit project.
  2. Click on the add-ins tab & select DIMOD app button.
  3. Provide the data such as wiring details, factor (K), voltage drop etc.
  4. Click on the calculate button & select the panel to view the circuit table.
  5. Select a sheet in which the line diagram must be drawn.
  6. Again, click on the DIMOD app button & select a point on the sheet to generate the line diagram.
  7. Click on the draw button to generate the line diagram.

The plugin associates 15 shared parameters to the category of electrical circuits:

  1. sp_vd calculated: (Number type, VD(%)-Calc column schedule) Percentage of voltage drop calculated.
  2. sp_wire min: (Number type, Wire Min column schedule) Minimum wire size: 1.5 mm2 to 6 mm2.
  3. sp_vd data: (Number type, Number type, VD(%)-Data column schedule) Data percentage of voltage drop: 0.5 % to 6 %.
  4. sp_kcable: (Number type, k Wire column schedule) Derating k factor for the wire calculation.
  5. sp_breaker: (Ampere parameter, OCPD column schedule)

Breaker rating according to the load:

Values in Amperes: 6, 10, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, 50, 63, 80, 100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 400, 630, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600, 2000, 2500, 3200, 4000, 5000, 6300, 8000.

  1. sp_kufactor: (Number type, ku Load column schedule) Load utilization coefficient of the circuit.
  2. sp_wire: (Text type, Wire column schedule) Wire calculated of the circuit.
  3. sp_mounting: (Text type, Wiring type column schedule)

Combines the following data:

Material of the wire: Cu-Coopper or Al-Aluminum.

Type of insulation of the wire: PVC or XLP.

Type of installation: A1, A2, B1, B2, C, D, E or F.

  1. sp_current allowable: (Ampere parameter, Iz (A) column schedule) The allowable current of the conductor in Amperes.
  2. sp_cond: (Text type, Conduit column schedule) Diameter of the conduit in millimeters.
  3. sp_adjust: (Number type, OCPD Adjust column schedule) As for the overcurrent protection devices, for values of 6 A to 125 A it always be equal to 1, because the addin assumes it is a modular device, for greater values it can be 0.7, 0.8, 0.9, or 1.
  4. sp_curve: (Text type, Type/Curve column schedule) This parameter has a curve type that can be B, C, or D for breakers less or equal to 125 A, for greater than 125 A this parameter will be MCCB (Molded Case Circuit Breaker).
  5. sp_if: (Yes/No parameter, RCD column schedule) This parameter allows to the user to show a residual protection device for each selected circuit, for currents from 16 A to 125 A.
  6. sp_gm: (Yes/No parameter, M. Starter column schedule) This parameter allows to the user to show a magneto thermic motor starter for each selected circuit for currents from 0.4 A to 32 A.
  7. sp_ku panel: (Number type, associated to the Electrical Equipment).

Calculations:

The add-in calculates the breaker rating, wire size, and conduit size, all these based of all data such as type of conductor, and installations; the calculations of the wire size are based in first moment of the load and it is reviewed on voltage drop, currents coordination (Ib<=In<=Iz) and max value of length based to the curve or type breaker.

When a circuit is created all the shared parameters are empty, when the Calculated button is activated the data and results will be filled.

If the letters NV(No value) is shown it means that the circuit is in 0 VA load or exceeds the values of the add-in of breakers and wire.

Data:

  1. Wiring type: Material of the wire: Cu-Coopper or Al-Aluminum. Type of insulation of the wire: PVC or XLP. Type of installation: A1, A2, B1, B2, C, D, E or F.
  2. Factor k of derating for the conductor's calculation.
  3. Voltage drop data, 0.5 % to 6 %.
  4. Minimum wire: This works for electrical circuits with light fixtures (1.5 mm2 to 2.5 mm2) or without light fixtures (1.5 mm2 to 6 mm2).
  5. The ku factor of each circuit will be always initially 1, the user can change this manually.
  6. Minimum breaker: 6A, 10A, 16A or 20A.
  7. Curve/Type Breaker: In the first run it will curve C for breakers equal or less than 125 A and MCCB for greater, the user can change manually the curve (equal/less than 125 A) in the schedule or window add-in'.

All data are saved with shared parameters associated with the add-in, except de minimum breaker, this last data is a global data that will be adjusted according to the existing value.

Edit circuits:

In the add-in window, the user can select a panel in the list and the circuits will be shown in the table, all the changes will be made in that table except numeric value that must be changed in the schedule for data parameters.

  • Single-line diagram: The single-line diagram only works in a view sheet type activated, the user must select the electrical panel, insert the factor of simultaneity and the press draw button.
  • Table: This button creates an electrical circuits schedule with all the data and results of the add-in.
