The Parameter Report is divided into two commands - available from the split button on the ribbon. It will default to the last command used. 

Report by Category 

Select an element and then start the Report by Category command. If in the Family Editor, start the command with no elements picked to allow editing the family types (including adding and deleting types). 

A dialog appears showing all the parameters attached to like elements. Specifically, it will either show parameters attached to elements of the same category, same family, or same family type. At the top left corner of the Parameter Report dialog box, you can toggle between these three options in the Filter section. If the element is from a system family (such as a wall), only category and family type will be available. If in the Family Editor, no category/family filters are available. 

Report by Selection 

Select multiple elements and then start the Report by Selection command. This command allows selecting unrelated elements regardless of their category. As with Report by Category, a dialog appears showing all the parameters attached to those elements. 

View: 

The parameters shown can be either instance parameters, type parameters, or both. Use the Filter section to enable or disable these tick-box options. In the parameter list, instance parameters are prefixed with "(I)", while type parameters are prefixed with "(T)". If a parameter of a particular element is driven by another function in Autodesk® Revit®, then the cell will be light gray and not editable. For example, the width of a wall is defined in the composition of the wall, or the length of a wall is geometrically and graphically driven. If the parameter is not applicable for this element then the cell will be blank and dark gray. 

The Common Only tick allows the parameter list to be reduced to only show parameters that apply to all the elements in the report. 

These routines provide powerful viewing and editing tools, allowing you to quickly find, check, and change model parameters. See the help within the product for details.

Editing: 

Some columns are editable (depending on their properties - as mentioned in the previous section). If you can click into an individual cell then you can change its value. If the cell is a reference to another element (such as a level, phase, or material), or is from a Yes/No parameter, then a drop-down list will show a list of available alternatives to select from. 

Use the Tab, Down Arrow, and Enter Key to navigate and accept input. As well you can hold the Control key while selecting multiple cells within a column (i.e. parameter) to then modify all selected cells at once. 

Edited cells are highlighted with a light yellow background to help see which cells have changed. Hovering over an edited cell also shows a tooltip showing the original value before being edited. 

These are powerful editing tools and caution should be used to ensure the desired intention. Be sure to only copy data from and to cells with like units and format. Any changes to parameters in this tool can be negated by simply clicking on cancel and no modifications will be written to your model. 

View State Manager:

The View State Manager provides the capability to arrange the dialog how you want it, and save the column orders for subsequent analysis. See the help within the product for details.

Power Tools - Analysis and extended use:

The Power Tools provide additional tools to select, query, and change elements and parameters. See Additional Information below for details.

• Download and run the "COINS Parameter Report" msi file from the Autodesk App Store.
• This only needs to be installed once for all users on the computer.

To uninstall this plug-in, click Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, and uninstall as you would any other application from your system.

Deployments and Administrative Installations

The installation file can be included in a Revit deployment or deployed with admin tools using standard Windows Installer command line options.

• Changing multiple parameters at once is a powerful function. Make certain you intended the changes that you specified.
• You can make this process even more fluid by dragging the Parameter Report panel off the ribbon and keep it floating in an area where it is easy to access – either on the Revit interface or on the second screen.
• For linked elements, first, pick the linked model. Then when prompted, pick the linked elements. When using the Parameter Report for linked elements, they will not be editable.

Common Power Tools:

Export/Import - export all the parameters to either an Excel file. This allow for fast parameter reports and analysis of model information (e.g. quick current sum of linear footage). When exporting to Excel, cells that contain read-only parameters are shaded light gray, and cells that reference parameters that do not apply to the current element are shaded dark gray. Import will bring the changes back into the model.

Copy Values - copy an entire column of parameters values or user selected cells in a single column to another parameter column (whether instance or type).

Fix Duplicates - select cells in a "Mark" column (e.g. door marks) to renumber duplicate values. This will handle numeric, alphabetical, or alphanumeric mark values.

Change Case - select text cells to alter the text case of the values. Options allow for lower, upper, title, and sentence case.

Edit Reference - select a cell (such as level, phase, or material) to edit related families and categories in a separate Parameter Report window.

Find/Replace - perform find-and-replace on partial matches within text parameters.

Element Power Tools

• Select in Project - highlight selected elements in the project. Linked elements cannot be selected.
• Select with Section Box - create a cropped section box around the selected elements in a 3D View. This section box can be in defined as an existing view or a newly named/created view (e.g. in the user's working view).
• Select Box per Element - create section box views around each selected element, such as rooms or around important equipment.

Family Editor Power Tools

• Add Type - adds a new type to the family based on the currently selected type while in the Family Editor.
• Delete Type - deletes the currently selected types from the family while in the Family Editor.
